I've never seen that miniseries, but I did watch the one with Billy Campbell after I listened to the "other Billy Campbell" episode of Again with Again with This a few weeks ago! The same Bundy victim (Caryn Campbell, a guest of a ski lodge in Snowmass) is the one that gives me the most nightmares, from the detail in The Stranger Beside Me about the contents of Ms. Campbell's stomach. I've read plenty of stomach contents since then, but you never forget your first. (Beef stew and milk, if you were wondering.)

Has anybody read "Somebody's Husband, Somebody's Son: The Story of the Yorkshire Ripper" by Gordon Burn? I'd never heard of it or the author but I saw it on a British-focused list of best true crime books and was excited to discover a "prestige" title in the genre I wasn't already familiar with. I laughed when it arrived to see on the front cover - "A book which will with some justice be compared to In Cold Blood and The Executioner's Song. It's as if Thomas Hardy were also present at the writing of this account of the Yorkshire Ripper. - Norman Mailer" I can only admire the POWER MOVE of naming your own book as the standard which the book you're blurbing *almost* meets. Bravo, Norman. :-D Anyhow I haven't read it but I'm looking forward to it.

The Deliberate Stranger write-up is among your finest work. Teeming with bones? Haha. I’m clutching my pearls.
