As a woman/rnb fan of a certain age I'm always happy to see Monica, but the branding and packaging of Infamy etc etc just feel so generic.

I am almost certain Monica was in the car when her then boyfriend shot himself and died by suicide. I think she does bring her own experience as someone who has seen something awful to the show. But also, maybe I am remembering wrong?

I’m listening to Confronting Columbine with special interest since I currently live less than 2 miles away and regularly walk in Clement Park next to the school, where the memorial is. I lived near Denver in 1999 too but not quite this close. All this to say I’ve followed the story pretty closely since it happened. I have not tuned into stories like Amy Over’s and the other people she has talked to though and find it interesting enough to keep listening. It makes me really think about how all of these people don’t just move on unscathed with relief they made it out alive, as Over’s parents wish she would. I was shocked at the reaction of principal DeAngeles’ family to his care for the students in the aftermath. And then thinking about all unbelievably all of the other times it has happened again since then with even worse results leaving thousands of traumatized people. I think she’s a thoughtful guide through all these musings. I don’t find the OJ situation all that comparable, and I guess I don’t remember that podcast that well even though it thought it was well done. Also Kim Goldman was a familiar figure in all the years since her brother’s murder and at least a somewhat media experienced during that time, so I’m not holding Over to that standard. Anyway that is a rambling response!
