I watched the 48 Hours on Pankey, and though he’s definitely a weirdo and very possibly mentally ill (disclaimer: not a doctor), I’m not convinced he’s the killer. He seemed to me like an attention-seeker with a strange fixation on the case, but nothing he said convinced me he had any real knowledge of the crime. I was curious about the other potential suspect brought up by his defense, but given that he’s dead there’s not a whole lot to go on there. And of course the police and the prosecutors seem pretty confident they have their guy in Pankey, so I doubt much effort if any is being made to look in any other direction.
All that said, if Pankey really does go ahead and represent himself at the retrial, with his clear nuttiness - it’s going to be a mess.

It's almost (ALMOST) admirable how well Flowers was able to bury the plagiarism and buying ranking scandal. It's sad how little it affected her.
