Hi, Pennsylvania Dutch here (and I love that! I’m a little west of Amish Country but I did go to college in Lancaster County), and if you ever need another palate-cleanser with the worst Southern accents ever and cheesy first-person narration from the victims, I highly recommend ID’s Betrayed.

This is the episode with the criminally terrible accent: https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/betrayed/full-episodes/family-fatale

And this is an episode with church/pastor dialogue written by someone who’s clearly never set foot inside a Christian church and might burst into flames if they did: https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/betrayed/full-episodes/hells-bells

Also, the reenactors playing the church ladies are hilariously over the top.

I've been reading Unspeakable Acts over the last couple of days (prioritizing the selections from the writers who will be on tonight's panel). I had never read Pamela Colloff's "The Reckoning" and it is phenomenal. The best thing I have read in ages.

Am I the only one noticing what a banner year Curtis Sliwa is having in crime documentaries?? Also, Margaret! (I’m convinced she’s got a secret lair somewhere in order to dream up links between crime and culture.)
