My true crime news of the day is that my pre-order of "Hell in the Heartland" by Jax Miller showed up on the kindle a few days early. The title is schlocky but based on reviews I'm hopeful it's going to be good. The blurb: "On December 30, 1999, in rural Oklahoma, sixteen-year-old Ashley Freeman and her best friend, Lauria Bible, were having a sleepover. The next morning, the Freeman family trailer was in flames and both girls were missing. While rumors of drug debts, revenge, and police collusion abounded in the years that followed, the case remained unsolved and the girls were never found." (According to the author's twitter there is actually some sort of court event happening today so I actually don't know how unsolved it is. Let's find out!)
