I'm a HUGE Phoebe Judge fan, so am very excited to listen. However, I'm listening to the audio version of "Dopesick" and finding it fascinating. I can't believe I put it off for this long. A high recommend from me, for sure.
Just listened to TBP, and the whole thing was a joy, despite the horrible Georgia Tan. I’d like to see a Ken Burns documentary about her that would include all parts of her sad, sad life. I had just heard over the weekend that she helped to engineer the legislation that closed all TN adoption records - of course so she could cover her own tracks. And then the tremendous Phoebe Judge interview. ❤️ Los Angeles used to sponsor a podcast that they sold virtual tickets to, and I bought a ticket one year for the entire three-day event just so I could see “Criminal” live. It was so wonderful: just Phoebe and a keyboard accompanist onstage. She read from a script for a little bit, then kind of gasped and realized she hadn’t introduced herself or the show, so she added, “Oh, I’m Phoebe” - and the crowd went nuts. I don’t think she gets how highly those of us who love the show prize her. She’s like a different form of Teri Gross: anything little she lets slip about herself (Phoebe bought a house! She’s from Chicago! She doesn’t like snakes!) is a nugget to be hoarded. Great KS interview.
