It’s Boxing Day, so we’re UN-boxing some archival material from the-blotter.com — my review of Serial S1 from five years ago (…doesn’t it seem like that podcast debuted much longer ago? like it’s just always been?), and a look back at John Douglas’s
Great Serial review (God, it feels like several lifetimes ago). My Boxing Day is currently featuring the JT Leroy movie, which my flatmate has never heard of and is having her mind bliwn over.
I remember thinking how obvious Adnan’s guilt was in 2014. I’ve relistened probably a dozen times and still believe there’s no question Hae was killed by him. I think that’s what makes Serial go down as one of the greats for me. My opinion is solidified but repeated listens still conduct heat. Did anyone else watch that pro-Adnan HBO docuseries from earlier this year? I’m still mad about it, but no one else in my life cares. (My dad: “Of course he did it. Whaddya stupit? What’s even the question here??”)
