I was a wee sprig of a thing when Richard Ramirez was out and about, attending college at the University of Southern California (me, not Ramirez). Being nose first in a book most of the time, I was aware of the Night Stalker (and felt sorry for the 70's cult classic show bearing the same name. RIP Darren McGavin and Simon Oakland), but had no clue how many people he tortured, raped and killed. I'm sure, as there usually are, there are more victims we'll never know about, which is always the great tragedy in such events. I was amazed that it was people in east LA who spotted him on the bus and literally took him down. This part of his history was unknown to me and, don't @ me, fascinating. Finally, what is it with these groupies for serial killers? I just don't get it. Is it stupidity or a desire to tailcoat someone else's notoriety? Please, enlighten me. Just don't @ me.

Apparently I do everything in threes at the mo:

1. Great review by Dan

2. I loved the Lady and the Dale trailer but the last Duplass true crime joint, Evil Genius, had some gender stuff in it that left a bad taste in my mouth (the obsession with a woman "losing her looks" for one, ugh)

3. Think it would be verrrrry interesting to contrast the obits of Spector with Ike Turner, another musical visionary but whose reputation for being a butthole overtook his actual accomplishments

I find it hard to believe that Richard Ramirez defeated Rege-Jean Page. Now THAT, my friends, is a crime.

I would add to the true crime upcoming "the lovers lane murders" which is what Oxygen have decided to reband the Colonial Parkway murders as for some unknown reason. I am interested because of the involvement of Bill Thomas, the brother of one of the earliest murders in the series, he has a podcast and I think his perspective as a victim's relative trying to get it solved and also a PR/media professional (I think he was high up in SAG-AFTRA) who knows how the game is played is interesting.
