Okay, my kids have been bugging me to get a subscription to Paramount+ (for some Nickelodeon content they are keen on unlocking) and I have resisted, but this Behind the Music news might just be the nudge I need!

I've long been fascinated with the Dyatlov Pass mystery (I recommend the book Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar) and look forward to reading the New Yorker piece. But serious question...I got a New Yorker subscription for Christmas (first time I've had one) and I don't have any idea how to keep up with the reading. Does anybody have any hacks/strategies? Should I set aside time each month to catch up? Make it part of a routine for certain activities (long car rides, rainy weekends)? It's truly daunting.

The highlight of my long and largely unglamorous book selling career was assisting with a Toni Morrison signing, I still remember it vividly, and barely kept my knees from knocking- and I was just handing her books. (My other highlight? Getting an orange juice for Valerie Eliot)

I read the suicide cluster piece when it came out and I really didn’t know what to make of it. The man in question seemed like an unreliable narrator, but absent any other perspectives (for obvious reasons), the article made him sound largely sympathetic, I thought? I didn’t feel like it necessarily made the case that he was responsible for the suicides. Without knowing exactly what was said/done and when, it’s hard to blame him, and he didn’t seem to have a discernible motive. But it has been a few weeks since I read it, so maybe I’m forgetting things.
