Tyson is involved in the Jamie Foxx/Fuqua production, so I don't have my hopes up too high that it's the Made In America... epic that his story (and his victims) deserve.
Thanks for the Nash deep-dive as a palate cleanser! Also, I somehow missed out on the Biggest Secret books my whole life but have stumbled across like five references to them in the last year, it's my own personal Baader-Meinhof Syndrome. I guess I should read one?
I promise you're not the only one under 80 with a physical Rand McNally! I need to see whole layouts, multiple possible routes, and I feel like I can't 100% trust apps, to be honest. I also use it all the time for writing research. It's so much easier to use a physical map when I want to find, for example, "small towns near lakes within a two-hour drive from Chicago's north side." So glad I'm not alone!
SDB, seriously, girl, I have a Thomas Brothers Guide in my car for LA County. Why? Because, when THE BIG ONE hits, all local landmarks and street signs by which we navigate may be down or destroyed. Also, the towers will be out and cell phone service kaput. So, my So-Cal peeps, KEEP A FUCKING HARD COPY OF HOW TO GET HOME FROM YOUR PLACE OF WORK WITH YOU OR AT LEAST IN YOUR CAR. And a pair of sensible shoes in the car, because, you know, the freeways may collapse and cars will run out of gas as people try to get home. Because. Not necessarily crime adjacent, but KPCC, our local NPR affiliate, did a short podcast called, THE BIG ONE, in which they discussed the many simple ways to survive such a catastrophe. Listen to it and PREPARE. If that isn't scary enough for you, I don't know what is. The end.
