I loved “The Traitors”, which is almost impossible for anyone to win, unless one of the Traitors starts speaking up, or behaving oddly. If they all stay quiet, there’s virtually no way to clock them. Kate Chastain and her disdain for fellow players is fun to watch, and some of the normal people are delightful. Our host is a hoot and a half; his outfits and glasses are perfection, and the scenery-chewing is delicious. I thought it was maybe two episodes too long, but there was no way I was going to stop watching.

Oof, I read some alleged Justin Roiland texts that are floating out there and they are VERY BAD. I am having some really heavy creep fatigue. I just wanna find out that all of my favorite writers/artists are flawed in relatively normal ways rather than being sexual predators and abusers.

I'll probably go with "The 1619 Project" which has started airing on Hulu. Plus, first episode of new series of "Vera" drops on Sunday. So, both non-fiction and fiction this weekend.

I'd really like to see "Poker Face," but I don't have Peacock, and I'm kind of at my limit (for now, anyway) for streaming services.

I'm almost finished with the Traitors. I think The Mole was better in terms of challenges and game play (the Traitors are incredibly stupid doing their best to draw the wrong attention) but it's entertaining.

<sigh> According to JustWatch, Peacock doesn't pair up with any of the Canadian services. Am I going to have to figure out these "methods" I keep hearing about?

Watched first 2 eps of Poker Face and it's entertaining if a tad pedestrian. I'm ok with that- I am also watching Last of Us which is excellent (last ep was really right out of the game). Going to rewatch Yellowjackets too.

Highly, highly recommend flying to England and Australia to watch their versions of The Traitors, all of which were filmed at about the same time. The biggest difference is that the other versions only cast civilians, no reality veterans at all. But it's also be interesting to clock the small differences in production and game design, which really reveal how much the details matter in these shows.

The UK version was literally filmed in the same castle with most of the same challenges as the US version. It's hosted by Claudia Winkleman, whose more straight forward approach works better than Alan Cummings', much as I adore his vamping. But the casting ultimately gives it a very different atmosphere and stakes. It was a critical and audience hit over there, where the US version is also now available, and generating much viewer debate about its comparative effectiveness.

Poker Face is great! I didn't watch any true crime but I did read this long article in the Guardian which is interesting if only for the wonderful Welshness of it all. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jan/28/the-killer-could-still-be-among-us-two-elderly-siblings-and-a-brutal-that-mystifies-locals-nearly-50-years-on
