I read Bad City and really liked, but it’s the kind of book I am pre-disposed to devour and adore. I have not delved into any of the controversy following its publication except for hearing that quote about Pringle being a fabulist which I sort of rolled my eyes at as typical sour grapes. But now I have some catching up to do! I didn’t find the allegations Pringle made against the Times and it’s editors hard to believe because we’ve seen it over and over again in newsrooms. I’m interested in reading more, but I feel like Pringle made a pretty compelling case that his editors were in the tank for USC and were happy to suppress the story until they couldn’t do so any longer.

Hey, Eve, do you follow What About Bunny on IG? In addition to being a super-smart and wonderful dog who can speak using buttons - and really understands lots of tricky concepts - she’s also very reactive to strangers. Her owners are highly creative types who have done an amazing job working with her, and it might be worth a viewing. Also, there’s house porn. They must live in WA or OR (I try not to be too nosy) on a lake and it’s pretty fab. Please tell David Cheddar that there are times when I, too, wish to bite small children. (And I’m considerably taller than a wiener.)

Maybe this is the wrong thing to say, but I feel great empathy for dogs who are suspicious of children. That's probably why I'm a cat person -- they're suspicious of almost everyone. Maybe I need to go to a trainer, too.

Doig’s offer to show his receipts is interesting, but I’m suspicious whether it’s made in good faith. I’m sure with the controversy he’ll get some offers, but I wonder if he’ll end up claiming that he felt no one was “serious” or unbiased enough to be worthy of the files, and welp, isn’t it a pity that now the truth will never be known??, etc.

Just anecdotal-- I've only been bitten by one breed of dog -- a dachshund. It was my grandmother's dog, I was 5 or 6, and my cousins tormented it mercilessly so I don't necessarily blame the dog but I give them a wide berth now lol.
