I wonder what kind of anti-coronavirus snake oil GOOP will be selling in the new year.

Matthew McConaughey was just being interviewed by a local sports station, so I’m resisting the urge to intone, “Well, all right, all right, all right.” Love After Lockup is such an interesting show. You will get out of it what you put in. If you note the little throwaways about people who choose to offer help to the former prisoners, or the reasons for the grifts that sometimes continue after release, the lack of trust that most released prisoners have, their emotional age (it stops when they are put in jail), or the difference between someone who needs help for addiction and someone who really needs to go to prison, you can learn a lot from this show. I definitely have some strong ideas now about prison reform and I need to figure out how to get working on them. In addition to that awful Michael getting arrested for child endangerment, we also had Josh (of Josh and Cheryl, who loved mispronouncing the names of serial killers) getting hauled in for possession with intent to distribute, among other things. And my sweet favorite Maurice (Maurice and Jessica from this season) just posted something (E, maybe?) on Instagram with the very sad hashtag “not for sell.” These people are more than a cautionary tale. If I haven’t talked you into LALU by now, I never will. Like Austin Powers, I’m spent. Wash your hands, wear your masks and stay safe.

Very interested in the Wuornos article, will click away immediately. I am repeating myself, but the Bad Gays podcast episode on her is heartbreaking, and she was on my mind as I was thinking about sex worker-positive laws and needed reforms. (Here's a FYI: New Zealand has one of the best legal protections for sex workers in the world, hailed by both sex workers and the UN. It was partially written and supported by an MP who used to be a sex worker. It is a story I really wish there was a comprehensive documentary or longread around that I could send to people)
